Weekends

Weekends are the best. Here’s how I’ve been spending mine over the last few weeks.

My Mum came to visit and stayed in a nearby hotel with a nice view.

She delivered this guy to me!

We ate a lot. Like at Floriditas. I love Floriditas.

And we visited the new Roxy Cinema. We ate there too, but I was too hangry to get a good picture.

We’ve been to Monterey a buttload of times lately. I wrote about it for Gale Force Win this week.

The savoury french toast wins times a million.

We’re enjoying our long weekend so far. Jason gets three whole days off! We’re planning on making pop tarts and playing board games. And I got new shoes.

I took them for their first outing today, to Plentifull Deli for coffee and lunch. It’s just around the corner and I am in love with it. Everything I’ve tried from there has been top notch, and is super reasonable too.

Hope your long weekend (if you have one) is going as swimmingly as mine!

Cape Town, Cape City

What I wish I were wearing, if I were a fancy, cape-wearing lady.

Here is where you can find where things are from.

I’d quite like to join a book club. I like reading good books but I’m not very smart at talking about them, so I’d need a book club that was only a bit serious or clever (or that was happy for me to not talk much at first). I’ve enjoyed books by Haruki Murakami, Jonathan Safran Foer, Margaret Atwood, Nicole Krauss, Jane Austen, Emily Brontë, and Carson McCullers, for example. I haven’t read many classics but I’d like to. Do you live in Wellington and belong to a book club that has taste a bit similar? Or would you like to start one? I must confess I’ve tried before and it was fun but more of a drinking club, hence why I’d like to join something established. But I’d love to hear from anyone keen.

Rachel Comey shoes from Creatures of Comfort. So beautiful and well crafted (I assume).

Unfortunately our lovely new flatmate is off overseas, so we’re looking for a new flatmate again. If you’re in the market for a really cheap place near the Wellington CBD you should email me.

It’s a beautiful day in Wellington today, I kinda want to climb a mountain, but I’ll probably catch up with visiting friends over tea instead. Have a lovely weekend!

+ My new shiny red hula hoop (which you can see in the photo). Huge and so easy for tricks!
+ Hoop class and French class starting back up next week.
+ Grapes and homemade pizza.
+ Buying lovely fabric and perplexing all who ask what I’m making by telling them it’s for shoes & a tent.

- School starts monday and I have not done enough homework!

Dilemma

Life is certainly tough. For instance (at the risk of seeming completely shoe obsessed (my lecturer recently inquired as to whether I have a shoe fetish)) which colour of these Pierre Hardy for Gap shoes should I get? I’m kidding about the extreme problematic nature of this, but really. My Momma’s going to the US sometime soon and I’m thinking about ordering them for her to pick up. Maroon or white?? Green is also cool, as was brown (which is sold out). White would be awesome with tights, black or coloured, but maroon seems less tacky. Not that tacky is a problem for me! You should see my array of ruffled 80s prom dresses. Eek, what to do?

You can buy these here but leave me some, k?

Remind me to make a post that’s not about shoes. It may be difficult. I’m making paper shoes at art school.

Please meet my beautiful & ridiculous lipstick pink peep toe shoe boots.  They are from Ruby and by Skin by Nude (who do have a website but it’s very hard to find). My love for them is immense and it kills me they’re so painful to wear! I’ve been thinking about getting them stretched around the toe but I don’t want to hurt them…

In action at a test shoot.

In other news, I start hula hoop classes on Monday!
