Lots of cats & a little tape

drunkface-mckittenshirt

Oh hi! It’s just me, Drunkface McKittenshirt, hanging out at the end of the night of my 26th birthday. Wow, I always forget how much I actually dislike birthdays until about the day before, it’s ridiculous. But I did have a really great day aside from the minor tantrums. Cupcake for breakfast, new skirt, lunch at Duke Carvells (so good), afternoon naps, bad tv and a southern bbq-style feast pot luck. Not bad for a tuesday! I was about to say that for my next birthday I’ll be either hermiting or throwing a crazy dress up party but I realised we’re intending to be road-tripping across America this time next year. Fingers crossed.

P.S. Do you like my crazy-ass tacky painting? Best thing ever. My flatmates all hate it.

Oh wait there’s more I must show! I think you know what’s inside this pretty package:

Wait for it…

Colourful Japanese washi paper deco tape! Thanks Simmonne & Keir! My dreams have come true.

When I was in Auckland my friend Kelly gave me these great zines about recognisable neighbourhood cats around Wellington. Made by The Water Bear Appreciation Society, it’s available at Madame Fancy Pants & Juniper.  I’m excited about submitting a few of my own favourites for the next zine. The world needs to know about Bubbles, Hieronymus & Mister Purrpants.

  1. Happy birthday,

I love the tape, did you have friends send it over or did you buy it, and can you tell me where?

Also, I had a cat that adopted herself out on Thompson St in Wellington, about 2004 when I moved out of home (she would come back to visit when I had my weekly ‘dinner at mum’s'). Anyway she’s black and had a verrry long tail and awesome eyes. I hope that she became a much loved neighborhood cat like the kitties in the zine…

  2. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Caitlin – new years is the same too! I’m glad you come to my house at Christmas time.

Lou – I’m not sure where exactly my friend got the tape from but it was on etsy, you can search supplies for Japanese paper tape or washi deco tape and lots of different places sell it. Maybe your kitty will show up in future neighbourhood cat issues. :) That’s so cute that she came back to visit when you did.

  3. I don’t HATE that weird cat painting thing in our living room. It’s more love/hate… Sometimes it weirds me out (you know that judge-y thing cats sometimes have, except mostly I feel like I’M judging THEM), but sometimes it just good fun! XXX
